Michael Rudd
Michael Rudd CFA
Mike has 25+ years of investment experience as a portfolio manager and analyst employed with investment managers, global banks, and independent research firms.
In addition to leading the firm’s North American Equities and International Fund Investment Teams he is responsible for all facets of Pathfinder’s business operations. Mike graduated from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Did you know...
Mike spent two years in Japan studying martial arts under an 8th dan master who was the last live-in student of the founder of Aikido. In addition to receiving his black belt, he also lost 50 pounds and met his future wife (who is reportedly unhappy that he gained the 50 pounds back!).
Nick Karliychuk
Nick Karliychuk CIM, CFA
Mr. Nick Karliychuk is Pathfinder’s Vice President & Portfolio Manager. He is a member of the management team contributing to overall business strategy and is responsible for the firm’s Operations, Trading, Client Services and Technology areas. Nick is passionate about helping families, professionals, business owners and entrepreneurs grow and preserve their wealth. He also gives back by volunteering, being involved with several nonprofits, including CFA Society Vancouver, in the past chairing the Society’s Programs Committee, and serving as Director, Vice President, and President.

Douglas Johnson
Douglas Johnson
Doug is the founder of Pathfinder Asset Management Ltd. He has been Chief Executive Officer, President, and Chief Operating Officer of Canfund Ventures Corporation, a private investment company and Pathfinder’s predecessor family office, since 1982. Doug has been investing in public and private companies for over 35 years.
Did you know...
Doug has been educated in the school of hard knocks. He worked for the family construction company from 1971 through 1975 where he learned value of “a good day’s work”. When asked about his education, he often refers to his “PhD” in Plumbing, Heating, and Drainage.
Nigel Andison
Nigel Andison CIM, CFP
Nigel joined Pathfinder in 2012 having previously worked for a multinational wealth management firm as a financial advisor. With approximately 14 years work experience, Nigel has worked in the areas of investment management, business development, and insurance. He graduated from Mayville State University with a B.Sc. magna cum laude.

While attending university, Nigel played varsity baseball and was a Dakota Athletic All-Conference Athlete, an Academic All-Conference Athlete, and an NAIA Academic All-American.
Terry Salman
Terry Salman
Terry has over 43 years of experience, beginning at Nesbitt Thomson’s head office in Old Montreal in 1973, as a Research Analyst. He spent 20 years with Nesbitt Thomson, ultimately becoming Executive Vice-President, responsible for the firm’s corporate and government finance activities in British Columbia, the Pacific Rim, and Western United States. In September of 1994, he started Salman Partners, a research driven investment firm. Currently, Terry is President and CEO of Salman Capital Inc., an investment advisory firm capitalizing on the extensive network and relationships he has built in the investment business.

He is currently Chairman Emeritus of the Vancouver Public Library Foundation, following 16 years as Foundation Chairman. In recognition of his years of service, Terry was honoured with a Hillcrest Library Branch name dedication.
Mark Ouellette
Mark Ouellette
Mark joined Pathfinder’s family office predecessor, Canfund, in 2007 and has over 25 years trading experience. He began his career as a floor trader in 1985, and eventually moved to desk trading at a regional securities firm where he spent 20 years trading equities, fixed income, and options before moving to Pathfinder.

Mark caught a 50lb spring salmon, a 20lb coho salmon, and an 8lb baby boy all in the same week.
Rob Ballard
Rob Ballard CFA
Rob joined Pathfinder in 2012 with previous experience as a hedge fund research analyst. He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Engineering and a B.A. in Economics from Queen’s University, as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Rob was a Canadian National Rowing Champion and once set an unofficial record for the number of boats crashed in a single season for the Queen’s rowing team.
Bill Lineker
Bill became a Chartered Accountant in 1982, working with an international CA firm in Edmonton for 10 years before opening his own public accounting and tax practice. Bill joined Pathfinder in early 2019 after transitioning his successful CPA practice to the next generation. His experience in taxation, retirement planning and business operations make him the ideal fit to assist Pathfinder clients with financial and tax decisions relating to estate planning and retirement.

Winter evenings are often spent at Rogers Place where Bill has been employed for 25 years as an NHL Off Ice Official, recording game statistics such as goals, assists, blocked shots etc.
Christian Anthony
Christian Anthony CFA
Christian began his career in 2006 in equity research at GMP Securities. In 2010, he joined Philips, Hager & North Investment Management as an analyst on the Canadian Equity team. Christian joined Pathfinder in 2013 where he manages the Pathfinder Real Fund, chairs our investment committee, and works with select clients. Christian is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Chairman of the Fraser Academy Foundation.

Christian is a proud graduate of Gonzaga University and West Point Grey Academy. In high school, he was captain of the Varsity basketball and soccer teams and was taught by current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Fang Zhou
Fang Zhou CFA
Fang joined Pathfinder in 2013 having worked as an equity analyst and assistant trader for a highly specialized equity trading firm. He holds a M.Sc. in Finance from Saint Mary’s University and was recognized by the international honour society, Beta Gamma Sigma, for graduating in the top 20% of his class. Fang also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Fang has a lesser-known career in Canadian film (breakthrough role: guest in a restaurant with beautiful girlfriend, “Christmas with Holly”, 2012). His home province in China is also the ancestral home of the panda bear.
Vivian Lu
Vivian Lu CIPM
Vivian joined Pathfinder in March 2016. As the controller and fund administrator, Vivian is responsible for day-to-day financial operations and portfolio administration. She has over 10 years of industry experience and previously worked as an analyst at an independent financial consulting firm.

Lucas Isola
Lucas Isola CIM
Lucas joined Pathfinder Asset Management in January of 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Business Management from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan and the Chartered Investment Manager designation. Currently, he is working towards the CFP designation.

Lucas was a valued member of both his university and high school varsity rugby teams. After years of tackles and rucks, he opted to replace rugby with the less-taxing sports of cycling, golf, and recreational hockey.
Adam Kim
Adam joined Pathfinder in 2024 having worked as an Investment Analyst and Portfolio Manager at Invesco and as a Principal at OMERS Capital Markets. He holds a B.Com in Finance from the University of British Columbia, as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Adam missed his flight on his first international work trip because he was shopping at the duty free. He now shows up at the airport much earlier.
Gary Sidhu
Gary has been involved in the mineral exploration industry for almost 20 years. Early in his career he gained extensive technical experience with “boots on the ground” knowledge of early to advanced stage projects including mapping, drilling, milling and mining experience. Until recently he worked as a sell side analyst focusing on early to advanced stage junior exploration companies. Gary graduated from the University of Victoria and also holds an MBA from Simon Fraser’s Beedie School of Business.

Gary and his wife rode across Canada on their bicycles, a distance of nearly 7,000 km, camping along the way and only training for a single day prior to their journey.
Alex Filkov
Alex Filkov
During his long IT career, Alex was exposed to the Software Development, Systems Administration, Database Administration and Project Management. He likes to combine all those activities, so he never gets bored at work.
After receiving his Project Manager Professional designation, Alex strongly believes that thoughtful preparation and planning is the key for the successful implementation of any project. Therefore, he applies project management skills to all the tasks and projects he implements.

Jared Fehr
Jared joined Pathfinder in 2019 having previously worked as an equity research associate and professional engineer in the oil and gas sector. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.

Jared’s team “Top Gun Engineering” took first place in the University of Alberta’s Design and Manufacturing competition. During the award ceremony, the presenter revealed the winners by using the “best of the best” speech from the Top Gun movie.

Victor has over 10 years of compliance experience in the securities industry. He was previously Chief Compliance Officer at a sell-side boutique brokerage firm serving institutional clients in Canada, in the United States and abroad. Victor graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelors of Arts (Philosophy) degree.

Brayden gambled for a living? Well not quite, but prior to joining Pathfinder he worked as an analyst in the sports betting industry, collecting stats and living vicariously through Rafael Nadal.
Evelyn Yang
Evelyn joined Pathfinder in Nov 2023. She graduated from Fox Business School of Temple University majoring in Investment Management in Philadelphia. She is also expected to obtain Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Data Analytics this year at Douglas College. She is working toward CFA.

Tenisha Ali
Tenisha Ali MBA, CIM
Tenisha has over 10 years of proven experience in the asset and investment management industry. She was previously the Investment Manager for a portfolio of mutual funds and pension plans based in the Caribbean. Tenisha graduated from the University of New Brunswick and holds an MBA from the Heriot-Watt University.

Ashley Lai
Ashley joined Pathfinder in October 2022 as a Senior Associate. She began her career in the wealth management industry in 2004 and has experience in the areas of investment management, administration, and client services. She previously worked at the brokerage arm of a major bank servicing private banking clients. Ashley graduated from the University of British Columbia with a B.A in Economics.

Lachlan Macaulay
Lachlan joined Pathfinder in October 2022. He graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2020. While there he worked as a co-op student with the federal government as a business analyst and forest economist. After graduating he worked for a satellite engineering company as a configuration management analyst, where he completed the Canadian Securities course and realized his passion was for Finance.

Dylan joined Pathfinder in May of 2023. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Commerce.

Dylan was a member of the UBC Thunderbirds varsity baseball team. He has since retired and shifted his weekend focus to breaking 80 on the course. Other than being an avid golfer, Dylan enjoys hiking in the backcountry, finding new and challenging routes.
Philip Hoang
Philip joined Pathfinder in August of 2023. He had previously worked for a well-known Wealth Management firm as an Associate Financial Advisor. With his extensive background in financial planning, he hopes to help clients in areas of retirement, estate planning and asset protection. Philip graduated with a Business of Administration Degree with a focus in Finance at BCIT. He is a certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM).

Philip is an avid volleyball player and has been playing for more than 10 years. You’ll find him playing year-round from the courts, to the grass, and to the beach. His dream is to be able to play as a team with his wife and kids.
