2020 Personal Income Tax Filing Deadline: April 30, 2021
At Pathfinder, we try and make tax time as seamless as possible for our clients.
If you have a non-registered investment account and have not already been in communication with us regarding your tax package, please expect a call from Nigel by the end of this week. The purpose of my call will be to confirm one of the following: your accounting relationship and their contact information has not changed; to gather the contact details of your accountant so we can send them a package directly; or, to advise you that we will upload your tax package to your client portal for you to use in filing your 2020 taxes yourself.
To assist you with preparation of your 2020 tax return, our Tax Package from Pathfinder for your non-registered accounts will include the following:
- Portfolio Management Fee Report
- Realized Gain/Loss Report
- Custodian T-slip Package & Foreign Asset verification Report
Please note: Trusts like mutual funds and REIT’s have a CRA filing deadline of March 31st. Therefore, some T3’s were not generated until yesterday. This is a CRA filing deadline and not a Pathfinder or Custodian deadline. We know some like to get a head start on their taxes and appreciate your patience as we wait for all the necessary T3’s to be generated. These reports are generated on a best-efforts basis and while assumed to be correct and designed to assist you in filing, your official filing should be done with the confirmation of information taken directly from your monthly statements. Audited Pathfinder Fund financial statements are also available for clients upon request.
RRSP Contribution Receipts
For those clients that do not have non-registered accounts, you should have received your RRSP contribution receipts in the mail by now. If you have not and you did make an RRSP contribution in 2020 or the first 60 days of 2021, then please reach out to Lucas at T (236) 427-4250 | E email@example.com to arrange a digital copy to be uploaded to your client portal.
